Common Inkcap (Coprinopsis atramentarius)
The Common inkcap fungus grows in tufts from buried decaying wood, usually appearing after rain. It can be up to 17cm tall, with a conical cap and shaggy edge which often drips an inky liquid. They are quite widespread around the country and can be found on the Barff growing out of tree stumps and wherever there is buried wood. They start to show from the end of April through to the end of October.
