Kilcamb Lodge Country House Hotel. August 2016
August 2016.
We first came to Kilcamb Lodge on the Ardumurchan Peninsular back in 2011 for a one week holiday with Poppy and Bridget. So we were long overdue another visit to this beautiful part of Scotland. It is a good eight hour drive from Thorpe Willoughby to the Corran Ferry, with several short stops on the way.
Kilcamb Lodge hotel is a wonderful 4star country house hotel (and 2 AA Rosettes) set just on the edge of the small town of Strontian on the banks of Loch Sunart. The hotel has 5 spacious dog friendly rooms with easy access to the 22 acres of private grounds, all laid out as meadow right down to the loch side. I love this place, the scenery, the solitude, the loch and the hotel.
There are some lovely dog walks close by and one which we did many times was in the Ariundle Ancient Oak Woodland. This Nature reserve has SSSI status and is rich with flora and fauna with some wonderful lichens and mosses and lots of old ancient, twisted Oak trees. A great place to escape and enjoy the surrounding scenery.
