Egyptian Goose
Originating from the Nile Valley the Egyptian Goose is quite a large bird with distinctive chocolate coloured eye patches. They have a lifespan of around 25 years. They are excellent swimmers and mostly terrestrial and can be seen perched in trees and buildings. They are related to the smaller Shell Duck and are predominantly pale brown and grey in colour with distinctive white wing patches which can be seen in flight. They were first introduced into this country to grace country house ornimental ponds. Today large numbers can be seen on the North Norfolk coast as well as the Norfolk Broads.
