Shelduck
Quite a fimilar duck mainly found on mudflats and river estuaries. It is slightly larger than a Mallard though smaller than a Goose. A colourful bird, primarily white with a dark green head and neck (looks black from a distance) and a chestnut band running across its breast. They can be quite highly strung and often when in large groups can be seen squabling.
Between July to October the majority of the British Shelducks fly over to the mudflats on the north coast of Germany, with very few younger juveniles staying in the UK.
