Reed Warbler
The Reed Warbler as the name suggests is a bird of the reed beds. It is a summer visitor to the UK and makes its nests amongst the reeds, cleverly weaving the nesting material between two or three reed stems. They can lay between three to five eggs, both parent birds raise the chicks once hatched on a diet of insects. The Reed Warblers fall foul of the Cuckoo and are common victims of the Cuckoo laying an egg in the Warblers nest whilst both parents are away. Once the Cuckoo chick hatches it pushes out the Warblers eggs out of the nest, leaving the parents birds to feed the foster Cuckoo. Within several weeks they will have out grown the nest.
