A common inland visitor and is often found around refuse tips and nature reserves such as Fairburn.  It is a small and extremely agile bird. During the summer months their head turn brown in colour.  Black-headed Gulls in all plumages have a white forewing, making a triangular white panel in the leading edge of the primaries.
