Sandsend
Sandsend is a small fishing village with a lovely beach, situated on the East Coast, just a couple of miles north of Whitby. This part of the coast is peppered with quaint fisherman’s cottages. The beaches are renown for their fossils and rock pools and the beck provides safe paddling and boating for children of all ages. The beach runs into Whitby sands which makes it a nice length for a brisk walk.
The origins of Sandsend date back to the development of the alum industry in the early 1800’s.
