Cichorium intybus

A tall flower normally grows to around a metre in height, It thrives on bare grassy land, and is quite common along roadside verges. Some very good displays at the RSPB reserve Fairburn Ings in North Yorkshire. The flower heads measure 3-4cm across with sky blue florets which open up under bright sun. Flowers from June to September.
