Staithes
This popular village lies just above Whitby on the North East Coast. Staithes still retains its cobbled streets and visitors are advised to leave their cars outside the village and walk down the hill to peruse the shops and tourist attractions. Before the demise of our fishing industry, Staithes was once the largest fishing village on the North East Coast. During the 1800's it became popular with poets and artists. Today it remains largely unspoilt and retains much of its old charm.
