An animal very much at home on the Masi Mara, where they roam often in large herds. They are mainly grazers but will occasionally eat the leaves and shoots from trees and bushes. They have quite clear and distinctive broad black markings, vertical on the neck and shoulders and horizontal on the rear and legs. The markings are quite unique to themselves, very much like fingerprints on humans.
