Known as the tsessebe or tiang, the Topi is a darker and more glossier variation of the Coke's Hartebeest, with which it shares similar habits and habitat. They prefer open grassland to graze on. It is dark brown in colour with some black on the flanks and snout and has yellow lower legs. Thinly spread out across East Africa but small herds were quite common on the Masai Mara.
