Masai Women
We were very fortunate during our stay in Kenya to be invited into a Masai village. The women play a significant part in the running of the household and the rearing of their children. One of their first jobs of the morning was to go out and milk the cows and goats and collect up all the cow dung, the dung being used to repair their houses. The wealth of the Masai tribe is measured by the size of their cattle herd consequently much of the time is spent managing the cattle, though men still dominate Masai life, which is very much beholden to customary law, the women are kept in total subservience.
