Blair Castle
Blair Castle is nestled in the dramatic surroundings of the Strath of Garry in Highland Perthshire and has been home to 19 generations of Stewarts and Murrays of Atholl as well as the home to Europe's last remaining private army, the Atholl Highlanders. The castle has twice been besieged, first by Cromwell's army in 1652 and then by the Jacobites in 1746, just before their final defeat at Culloden. It has also been much visited by royalty.
The castle grounds feature a nine acre walled garden, restored to its original Georgian design, of fruit trees and vegetables, complete with Chinese bridge, gothic folly and a trail of contemporary and 18th Century sculptures.
