Loch Garten is a large Highland freshwater loch on the outskirts of the Boat of Garten, set in the heart of the Abernethy Forest and adjacent to the RSPB reserve of the same name. There is pleasant walk around the loch. It is a great place for seeing Red Squirrels and crossbills. The RSPB reserve has a large car park. We visited several times during our stay at ‘The Boat’. The visitors centre is excellent,  called the ‘Osprey Centre’ it is an ideal place for watching the Ospreys as well as other wildlife around the base. During our time there we often bumped into the BBC 'Springwatch' camera men who were busy filming there at the time.
