Ashness Bridge
Ashness Bridge is a traditional stone-built Packhorse bridge on the single-track road from the Borrowdale road (B5289) to Watendlath. It is famous for being one of the most photographed bridges in the Lake District and can be seen on many a tin of biscuits or fudge. From the bridge on a clear day are fine views north looking towards Skiddaw and to the North West Bassenthwaite Lake.
Near the bridge is a small cairn to Bob Graham, who ran a round of 42 Lakeland peaks in 1932 (in under 24 hours), a record which was not equalled for 28 years.
