Blea Tarn
After a beautiful drive along the Langdale valley continue along this road and turn left just past the hotel onto the Little Langdale to Great Langdale road, Blea Tarn is nestled in Little Langdale. There is a small National Trust car park at the side of the road adjacent to the Tarn. A short walk from the car park takes you to the tarn and water’s edge, on a pleasant day the views across the tarn towards the Langdales takes your breath away.
Blea Tarn is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The sediment in this small mountain lake has not been disturbed since the last Ice Age, providing a valuable research site and a haven for flora and fauna, such as Alpine flowers, brown trout, perch and pike.
