Buttermere Lake walk
For a pleasant four and a half mile walk around a lake Buttermere is the place to do it. There is a National Trust car park next to the village so members can park for free. The walk takes about three hours and it is reasonably flat, though strong walking boots/shoes should be worn. There are some lovely views looking southwards down the lake towards Fleetwith Pike and Haystacks. At the start of the walk keep your eyes open for the Red Squirrels as they search for food amongst the trees.
