Castlerigg Stone Circle 2024
Is situated on the outskirts of Keswick, there is a small layby adjacent to the stone circle. An icecream van often situated in the same layby sells a guidebook to the site. It is just a short walk of two hundred metres across a grassed field to reach the thirty-eight chunks of Borrowdale volcanic stone which form a circle measuring approximately one hundred feet in diameter. There are some stunning views from the site, Blencathra to the northeast and the Helvelyn range to the south of the valley. The circle is thought to have been built some four or five thousand years ago.
