The small village of Polop is located inland in the Costa Blanca North, in an area known as the Marina Alta. The local economy is based mainly on agriculture.

A pleasant small village with narrow steep streets especially close to the church of San Pedro. The hill, where the old castle used to be is encircled by a medieval wall; the zig zag path leads to the cemetery Literario. It is a pleasant walk around the crypts with some fabulous views. On a clear day you can see over to Albir and Altea on the coast and inland to Callosa and the Sierra Bernia. The Leon Dormido - the sleeping lion mountain stands prominently behind the village.
