St Moritz. Switzerland
After a day on the Glacier Express which we caught in Montreux earlier in the day we arrived at St Moritz late that afternoon, fortunately our hotel, the hotel la Margna, was just a short walk from the train station. The first thing that hit us when we arrived was the cold, but at almost 6,000ft above sea level it was to be expected.
St Moritz was the birthplace of Alpine winter tourism and has hosted the Winter Olympics in 1928 and 1948. The town first became famous though for its mineral springs which were discovered over 3,000 years ago and established the town as a summer spa resort.
Due to our hectic schedule we just spent the night here and left the following day for Menaggio and Lake Como.
