Trevi Fountain
An extremely busy tourist hotspot, everybody in Rome was at the Trevi Fountain the day we visited.
As ancient landmarks go this fountain is a relative newcomer. Nicola Salvi’s theatrical design for Rome’s largest and most famous fountain was only completed in 1762. The central figures are Neptune, flanked by two Tritons, one struggles to control an unruly sea horse, the other leads a more docile animal. They symbolise the two contrasting moods of the sea.
